Townes Wessels
Riding Instructor
Townes
Wessels is a riding instructor at Collins Stables who is proud to be
certified by the highly respected American Riding Instructor’s
Association.
Riding horses her entire life, Townes grew up a member of the United
States Pony Club where she learned horsemanship, stable management,
foxhunting and veterinary knowledge.
In 1975, Townes earned her
Pony Club "B" rating. She actively participated in horse shows, 2-day
events, Pony Club Know-Downs and D, C, and B Rallies. She assisted in the
instruction of other pony clubbers and taught beginner riding students
while still in high school. She was an Assistant Riding Instructor at Camp
Rockbrook, North Carolina in 1976.
Townes graduated from the
University of Florida in 1980 with a BFA degree in Art. While there, she
was selected for the University of Florida Equestrian Team.
Townes continues to take lessons and clinics as well as compete in
dressage, horse trials and hunter shows. She teaches Huntseat, Vaulting,
Kinder-Ride, has been a 4-H Camp Riding Instructor, and member of Yadkin
Valley Hounds.
